Apprenticeship – Trainee Claims Handler (Belfast)

ABL are currently looking for an apprentice to join their Claims Team in Belfast.
Based in Northern Ireland ABL Group provide a carefully balanced combination of risk management and insurance solutions – all designed around the specific needs and budget of each individual client.
As an apprentice you will have the chance to gain a professional qualification as well as enabling you to start your career within the insurance industry.

The successful candidate will train in all aspects of Claims.

Main Duties:

  • Taking notification of new commercial motor, property and liability claims and instructing the relevant service providers, engineers, loss adjusters, solicitors etc\
  • Responsible for the handling of an assigned caseload of commercial claims
  • Ensuring efficient progress and update of claims through diary system
  • Dealing with enquiries from policy holders, clients and other parties involved in the claim
  • Preparation of claims experiences/information for directors and account executives
  • Liaising with senior claims handler and team leader as and when necessary
  • Liaising with other internal departments
  • Maintaining FCA compliance at all times

Candidates should have 5 GCSE’s to include Maths and English as well as the following personal attributes:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to act on own initiative
  • Ability to make prompt decisions
  • Possesses the energy, enthusiasm and ability to work within a demanding environment that requires a hands-on approach

The position is based in the ABL Group Head Office, Jennymount Business Park, North Derby Street, Belfast, BT15 3HN.
Office hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm, with you being released for any training required.
You will be entitled to 20 days annual leave plus 11 statutory days.

Risk Manager

We are currently looking for a Risk Manager to join our Corporate Team in Belfast.  

The role will involve the following:

  • To advise clients/prospects on potential risks to their organisation in relation to employees, customers, reputation, assets, interests of stakeholders and in respect of any other areas within the risk management field.  
  • Plan, design and implement an overall risk management solution.
  • Advise clients/prospects on relevant Health and Safety legislation and review their compliance.
  • Plan, design and implement an overall risk management solution for our clients/prospects.
  • To dovetail activities with insurance broking colleagues as part of a rounded product/service offering.  

Candidates will require the following:

Essential Criteria

  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a health and safety role either as a consultant or within industry.
  • Comprehensive risk management knowledge.
  • Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft office, Word and Excel systems.
  • Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels using a variety of media.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Highly motivated and result focused.
  • An effective, willing and enthusiastic team player.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Ability to understand business issues.
  • Self motivated with the ability to manage own workloads and act on own initiative to achieve set targets.
  • Possess the energy, enthusiasm and ability to work within a demanding environment that requires a hands on approach.
  • Keen eye for detail with the ability to analyse data quickly and accurately.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • Experience of working within the insurance environment.
