I've been in insurance broking since 1993, starting originally in Willis, before moving to Aon and then finally to ABL in 2015. ABL’s acquisition of the Northern Ireland business of Aon (in 2017) meant that I had the opportunity to work with some familiar faces again and our acquisition of Willis Towers Watson's NI business (in 2021) has brought me almost full circle.

What I love about working at ABL is that we’re a business that is constantly changing and growing. The pace at which we operate is exciting and yes, sometimes very challenging, but there’s never a dull moment. The team we have now assembled is formidable and I am very honoured to lead the team of Account Directors.

ABL Group has grown massively, especially so in the last five years and in some ways we’re a very different company from who we once were. But I believe we’ve taken the best from each of the organisations we’ve acquired, using their strengths and experience to bolster and improve our services. However, the commitment to exceptional personal service remains the same and is the foundation of all our growth and change.

No doubt we’ll continue to change as the industry evolves – developments like AI could have profound impacts on insurance, especially in personal lines. But for ABL Group, the cornerstone of our company will always be corporate and commercial insurance for Northern Ireland businesses. This business is built on personal relationships and the trust our clients have in their advisors. And we have some of the most highly trained and exceptionally experienced advisors in the business.

I live in Belfast with my wife and daughters and would like to say I spend my free time travelling or playing golf (badly), but I mostly seem to spend it driving my daughters around!

I’m looking forward to more travel in the near future, France or Italy are my destinations of choice. I may even get back to pay a visit to the Parisian school I taught at for a year in my youth.
