ABL Group ready for take-off with life-saving charity partnership

Everyone at ABL Group is delighted to announce that our new charity partner for 2023 is Air Ambulance NI. 

This incredible charity provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service together with its partners at the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. This dedicated airborne emergency response service is the only one of its kind in the province and makes any location in Northern Ireland reachable within 25 minutes. For a region like ours, where so many of us live in rural areas, this service frequently saves lives and always improves outcomes from a wide variety of incident types. 

The service receives funding from charitable donations and at an annual running cost of over £2 million (that’s £5,500 per day!) every penny counts towards making this service viable. 

And this is where we (and you!) come in.

Each year ABL Group and our colleagues at Digney Grant and McGrady Insurance come together to choose a charity organisation that reflects our own shared values and which has a direct impact on our local communities. Last year we raised £20,000 for Friends of the Cancer Centre - a brilliant cause raising funds to make living through cancer treatment more bearable by patients and their families. This cause is close to all of our hearts as cancer has unfortunately touched so many of our lives in one way or another.

This year we wanted to work with another organisation which has a similarly direct effect on people's lives and which is shared by people from all over Northern Ireland. After hearing from colleagues nominating a number of worthy local causes, we voted for Air Ambulance NI.

This week, our charity committee was lucky enough to pay a visit to Air Ambulance HQ to take a look behind the scenes, meet some of the people who make the service possible and hear some incredible stories from survivors and service people. 

We left AANI HQ completely blown away by the amazing work this organisation does each and every day and we know you will be too as we share more of these stories through the year.
