The recent suspension of MOT tests across Northern Ireland, due to problems with lifting equipment is certainly unusual.  However, there is probably no need for motorists to be unduly concerned about driving their car. However this does not waive the legal requirement for a vehicle to be roadworthy and you should have your car checked over by a mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Insurers will generally take a pragmatic approach to this situation which is clearly outside the control of policyholders and provided the vehicle is roadworthy, will deal with a claim as normal. You should contact your own broker / insurer for specific guidance if you have any queries.
